What is the difference between galactose and lactose?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If i remember correctly, it is the chemical bond chain. I believe they are both... \[C_(12)H_(22)O_(11)\] So the only difference is how long are the carbon chains.

Elaborating on the above post galactose is a monosaccharide that is actually a part of lactose which is a disaccharide. Galactose bonds with glucose to form lactose.
