how to plot this function: f(x,y)=√(x^2+y^2 )

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Well, for one, I already suck at 2d drawing, so 3d drawing is going to be worse. two, this should look familiar, ever done polar coordinates?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe think of it as the upper half of \(z^2=x^2+y^2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i too suck at 3d, but the wolf is pretty good at it http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=z%3Dsqrt%28x^2%2By^2%29

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

@satellite73 This should look like a cone, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

according to my notes the larger values of z are indicated by lighter colors in the contour plot
