Christian monks taught laypeople the art of stained glass, which served which of the following functions in medieval Europe?

To teach the Bible to people who couldn't read. Back then, literacy rates were horrendously low not because that people were idiots or anything, but that learning was often centered on a small percentage of the population such as nobles (who had the privilege of having the best teachers), merchants (who would need to keep records), and monasteries who often copied and illuminated countless manuscripts for a time before the printing press. Most people were simple workers, farmers, etc.. who were largely illiterate. Simply knowing how to read and write was akin to being a lawyer today.
