1. What do you learn about the role of women in the societies described in the selections by Djebar, Rifaat, al-Idlibi, and Ayyoub? Discuss how the women cope with the conflicts they encounter.

I kinda had trouble explaining this but basically they struggle with their rights in their country and are still trying to overcome the struggle. I think some don't really mind it, but others are troubled at the fact that they are not really "free"
