2. Setting (the time and place in which a literary work takes place) and mood (atmosphere) are important elements in many of these stories. Choose one story and describe some aspects of its setting: where it takes place; what mood is created by the details of weather, place, and time; and how this setting helps to convey the theme of the story.

Hmmm the one story I remember that has a lot of mood would be the one where they were waiting in the car and the truck driver held everyone up. I think it was "5 hours to simla" I'm not sure though. It was hot and humid and the atmosphere was irritating and everyone was tense. Then at one point they all got excited because they thought they were going to get moving again but then they got let down and had to wait an even longer time. Eventually they got moving and felt relieved.

To my students at Connections Academy: ^ That is not a long or detailed enough response for a 25 point question; I'd recommend NOT copying it. If you don't know the answer, call your teacher! It's not worth the honor code violation.

Copying anything is bad, especially word for word. There is an easy way to deal with this sort of assignment. Think of how you would explain it to a friend that was not too familiar with the stories. Write that down, then revise it to be more formal. You should end up with a reasonable length and decent content just by doing simple things like that.
