Please help! best response! Express the complex number in trigonometric form. 4i

OpenStudy (frostbite):

When you say trigonometric form you then mean polarform?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (frostbite):

and you know don'y know the relation how to convert?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I dont

OpenStudy (frostbite):

For the complex number a + ib can be rewritten to: \[z=r*\cos(\theta)+i*r*\sin(\theta)\] as you know from the graphical idea for complex numbers. then we can just the formulars to rewirte: \[a=r*\cos(\theta) <-> \cos(\theta)=\frac{ a }{ r }\] \[b=r*\sin(\theta) <-> \sin(\theta)=\frac{ b }{ r }\] and \[r=\sqrt{a ^{2}+b ^{2}}\]
