Which length are you looking for?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You need the right triangle altitude theorem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im looking for CD or DC

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

There are two parts to the theorem. One of them covers this situation. In a right triangle, if the the altitude to the hypotenuse is drawn, then the length of the altitude is the geometric the lengths of the segments of the hypotenuse. In this case, DC/37 = 37/53 Cross multiply and solve for DC.
