choose the correct way to read this number. 6.3078

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@mrbowman Are you still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@skullpatrol yeah im sorry lol i figured it may be six and three thousand seventy eight thousandths

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

How about six point three zero seven eight.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i figured you read it according to its value place @skullpatrol

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

How would you read 6.3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i was reading as a decimal six point three but as a place value six and three tenths @skullpatrol

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

That is how you would read$$6\frac{3}{10}$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah same concept but how do you read 6.3078 as a place value

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$6\frac{3078}{1000}$$ is read as six and three thousand seventy eight thousandths

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

If the number is given to you in decimal form read it as a decimal: 6.3078 is read as "six point three zero seven eight"

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Does that seem reasonable? @mrbowman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what she is doing, is turning the decimal into a fraction and reading it as a fraction......4.7 would read as 4 7/10. If you wanted the fraction form you would read it like that. However, if you are reading and it does not specifically ask for the fraction form you could just say 4 point 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

excuse me...." he ".....sorry mrbowman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no im sorry im not disregarding yall response @kelliegirl33 and @skullpatrol im in class lol but yeah i understand its just that i ddnt wanna put the wrong answer but i figured thats what it was. thank you @skullpatrol and @kelliegirl33
