A company states that the ratio of the number of people that prefer its brand of toothpaste to another brand is 4 to 2. a. Is this a part-to-part ratio or a part-to-whole ratio? b. Describe in words what the ratio means. c. What is another way to write the ratio? d. What is the simplified form?
am not positive but this is how I would answer. It's a part to part because the 10 is not the whole sample tested The ratio means that out of every 10 people tested 8 will prefer the company's toothpaste or 80% of the people tested will prefer that brand. 8/10 or 80% or 0.8 simplified would be 4/5
1. Is there any part? Or is it a whole company compared to another? 2. I'll bet it's in your book... 3. Simplified form would be finding a number they can both be divided by and doing that.
I don't have a text book..
did my answer help just wondering

I would not bet on those answers.
my anwers?
thanks twilaswift!
a. In part to part ratios you are looking at two independent items. In this case the items are: 1. People who prefer the company's brand. 2. People who prefer other brands. These are independent items. Therefore we have a part-to-part ratio.
