Jake was asked to round sixty-five point two seven eight to the nearest tenth. His answer was seventy and was marked wrong. Where did Jake go wrong? He should have rounded down to sixty. He should have rounded the 5 down to sixty-five. He should have rounded the 2 up to sixty-five point three. He should have rounded the 7 up to sixty-five point two eight.
Alright, don't pay attention to that. First, write it out 65.278
Rounding down to sixty would be totally unnecessary, because he'd leave out a whole five numbers
Rounding down the five to sixty-five doesn't make a lot of sense, either.
On the other hand, rounding the two up to 65.3 makes sense
So does rounding the 7 up to 65.28... I'm stuck >_< There's two right answers here or something.
I suppose that, if your teacher gave you the rule about using only the first two numbers behind the decimal to round, then 65.3 would be right.
all right thanks //
