why is franklin d. roosevelt referred to as fdr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because those are his initials..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i know but is there a specific reason why textbooks and articles use the abbreciation instead of his full length name?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

abbreviation*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll try to find it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think there is a specific reason as to why they use his initials more often, I think it's just because it's shorter and easier than to say/write out "Franklin D. Roosevelt"

So far every website I have visited have used the initial FDR but have not given me a reason for it other then the obvious case. I'm sorry I guess I would have to see the textbook.
