3x - 1 > -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x - 1 > -4 // treat it as if it is an = sign. the one difference i remeber is that if you divide both sides by a negative value then you have to reverse the direction of the inequality. for example, > to < or < to >. 3x>-4+1 3x >-3 divide both sides by 3 to get x by itself on the left side. since you are dividing by a positive value, then you do not need to reverse the inequality sign. further reference: https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/linear_inequalities/inequalities/v/solving-inequalities
