x - 2/3 = 3/8 (common denominator for 3 and 8 is 24) Multiply the equation by 24 to get rid of the fractions... 24(x) - 24(2/3) = 24(3/8) 24x - 16 = 9 Now that the fractions are out of the way, can you solve it from here ?

good for you....just remember, if you want to get rid of the fractions, multiply the equation by the lowest common denominator.
