HOW DID THE RADICAL REPUBLICANS IMPACT THE RECONSTRUCTION?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Many historians believe the radical Republicans were too hard on the south after the war and prolonged the recovery of the south. The south resisted the tight controls the federal government tried to impose and in the end the feds gave up and the power structure of the old south was restored. Only then did the south begin to truly recover from the war. I hope this help is not just say so.
