it is just guess work actually.. there are some procedures invented for students though. the one like ZeHanz is saying

you know the properties of real numbers right?(associative, distrubutive laws stuff..) (x+a)(x+b) = x^2 + xb + ax + ab = x^2 + (a+b)x + ab

so you can just plug the a & b's out, sum them, multiply them and compare those with the given equation
