OpenStudy (christos):

Factor 2(x+4)(x-3)^3+(x+4)^2*4(x-3)^2 for me with steps please. I know the solution but I donnot know the steps and I can't solve it by my own. MEDAL will be given and a GREAT FAN TESTIMONIAL too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We can't work out the entire problem for you, as It's against the CoC, and that appears to be what you're after. Have you at least attempted it yourself, where you can show us you tried?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (christos):

I tried to expand the solution: 2(x+4)(x-3)^2(3x+5) but no avail

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor by group. Basically means you put the first two term in one group and the last two term in one group notice the third term is a negative number. You need to include the negative in the parethesis (x^3 - 4x^2) + (-x + 4) take oug GCF of each binomial x^2 (x - 4) + -1(x - 4) negative and positve becomes negative x^2 (x - 4) - 1(x - 4) take out x - 4 (x - 4) (x^2 - 1) notice that x^2 - 1 can also be factored further. It is a difference of perfect square. Use this formula a^2 - b^2 = (a - b) (a + b) i hope this is right

OpenStudy (christos):

The solution that is written on my test is 2(x+4)(x-3)^2(3x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i gave u an example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u can follow it and learn

OpenStudy (christos):

What do you mean by "take oug GCF of each binomial" I am not so good on math terms in english, so if I take out "CGF" from each "binomial" x^2 (x - 4) + -1(x - 4) How it should be once done?

OpenStudy (christos):

Please if someone could solve my problem using steps so I can learn I would be deeply thankful

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Greatest Comman Factor thats what GCF mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well a binomial is a mathematical expression with two terms. ex. (2x+5) {2x is one term 5 is the other}, (5x+9) {5x is one term 9 is the other} terms are seperated by + or - signs only.

OpenStudy (christos):

whatsthe GCF in this x^2 (x - 4) + -1(x - 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(x+4

OpenStudy (christos):

but thats not even in the line x^2 (x - 4) + -1(x - 4) how did you come up to that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thinking outside the box lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it should be -1(x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait now i got it

OpenStudy (christos):

ok

OpenStudy (christos):

I wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1362010586488:dw|

OpenStudy (christos):

whats that...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol the question that u asked me so i put the answer in the big box

OpenStudy (christos):

I see, why is it called GCF instead of just Factor? what's the difference?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the greatst command facter is like a + sign but just the facter it could be both

OpenStudy (christos):

Ok. To Others: If someone can solve my problem with steps as stated in the first post It would be really helpful to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry if im not very helpful

OpenStudy (anonymous):

):

OpenStudy (christos):

You were helpful to me, thanks a lot :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont feel like i help u

OpenStudy (christos):

In the end, if noone is gonna show me the steps that I need, I am gonna study that generic example of group Factoring which you gave me, and hopefully one day I will be able to understand, so yea you helped me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im telling u it really dont feel like it but ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(:

OpenStudy (christos):

Alright thank you anyways then :) . PS: I Still need Help!

OpenStudy (christos):

I STILL NEED HELP PLEASE READ THE TOPIC PLEASE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if you expand \[2 (x+4) (x-3)^3+(x+4)^2×4 (x-3)^2\] it should be \[6 x^4-2 x^3-110 x^2+66 x+360\] DO YOU NEED A WLAKTHROUGH ON THAT?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2 (x+4) (x-3)^3+(x+4)^2×4 (x-3)^2\] has three roots or solutions.

OpenStudy (christos):

DO YOU NEED A WLAKTHROUGH ON THAT? Yes please.

OpenStudy (christos):

So what if it has 3 roots/solutions? Why did you mention this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that is if you want to find its roots. like x = ? do u get me?

OpenStudy (christos):

Yea got it however I only wish to factor this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2 (x+4) (x-3)^3+(x+4)^2×4 (x-3)^2\] do you know how to start off?

OpenStudy (christos):

It gets to 6x4−2x3−110x2+66x+360 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that is the expanded form. so i dont think so.

OpenStudy (christos):

:( can you guide me friend please? :(

OpenStudy (christos):

Guide me please? I am lost?
