What is the value of the expression x + (–y) when x = 1.2 and y = –10.7? A. 9.5 B. –9.5 C. –11.9 D. 11.9

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

It's just straight arithmetic. x + (-y) is the same as x - y. Plug in the values. Be careful about subtracting negative numbers. 3 - (-2) = 5, because subtracting -2 is the same as adding 2.
