If I were to move VY Canis Majoris closer to the earth, imploding the sun and the moon, what would happen to the life on earth? It has no gravitational orbit, meaning it will remain at a constant place relative to the center of of the now-destroyed sun. How long would it take for the earth to rotate during it's orbit to collide with VY Canis Majoris?
