A store offers a 15% discount on all items in the store during a sale. All store employees get an additional 10% employee discount. In the equation below, C represents the cost of an item for an employee including tax, and x represents the original price of the item. C = 0.765x + 0.06(0.765x) Chris is an employee at the store. He plans to buy a coat during the sale. The price of the coat before the discount is $100. How much will Chris pay for the coat during the sale? Numerical Answers Expected!
errr, simply insert 100 to x, and u'll get C, and C is what u're seeking for :)
the cost will be 81.09
any question ? :)
But I Don't See How I Can Get A Numerical Answer\
like a whole number
oh, that's because the question is already provided with equation, and what do you mean by NUMERICAL answer ? i thought it was number, and thats all ._.
Idk Thats What My Teacher said
lets say that the original price is X and customer will get 15% discount while employee will get 10% more, which 15+10 turn to 25% that's the discount, the price employee need to buy is 75% and 75% in decimal is 0.75, which near to 0.765 provided in equation to get the discount of the item, the amount they have to pay need to be multiplied with original price, which is 0.75 x X (where X=original price) and later, you have to add it with the tax, which is given by 0.06 from the amount you pay, that's where 0.06(0.75X) came from :)
and to put it equation pay = discount price + tax (from discount price)
