OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Luis_Rivera 25.12??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area is side squared. suppose s = 4 s^2 = ? you know that together, both semicircles make one full circle. therefore, you can treat it as one full circle you want to do the following Area of Square - Area of 1 circle the circle has a radius of 2.

@Luis_Rivera when you were calculating the area of the circle you actually were finding the circumference of the circle Area of Square = 4^2 = 16 Area of the circle = pi*r^2 = pi*2^2= pi * 4 = 12.56 Area of shaded region = 16-12.56 = 3.43
