i need to multiply this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(5-i \sqrt{3})^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write out ALL the terms when you square that binomial for me...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[25-5i \sqrt{3}-5i \sqrt{3}+(i \sqrt{3}*i \sqrt{3})\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25 - 2*i*sqrt(3) + (i)^2*3, where i^2=-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now use the fact that i*i = -1 and that \(\sqrt 3 \cdot \sqrt 3 = 3 \) and simplify. Don't forget to combine the two middle terms also.

thanks
