how do you solve log questions on a calculator? Evaluate. log4 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a Ti-84, so on mine I go log (16)/ (log 4) to get 2

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

use change of base... make them base 10 logs \[\frac{\log_{10} 16}{\log_{10} 4}\] the same process works it you use base e logs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The log button is on the left (beside the #7 button) and all I did was divide the two logs to get what would normally be an exponent. |dw:1362119915553:dw|

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

or you need to recognise 16 = 4^2
