Graph y=-1/3x+2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

y=-1/3x+2 is in the form y = mx+b m = -1/3 b = 2 so the slope is -1/3 and the y-intercept is (0,2)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you start with the point (0,2) and you go down 1 unit and then to the right 3 units to get to the next point (3, 1)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you plot these two points then you draw a straight line through them to graph y=-1/3x+2

@jim_thompson5910 can you show me that on a graph

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

start with (0,2) |dw:1362121456788:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

then go down 1 unit and to the right 3 units to get to (3,1) |dw:1362121476185:dw|
