OpenStudy (christos):

Choose the equation of the line conaining the point (-5, 10) and with undefined slope. How can I do this? And what does it mean undefined slope? That may sound stupid but what would be the solution if it was a "defined slope" ? If such thing exists.

hartnn (hartnn):

vertical lines have undefined slope. equation of vertical line is of the form x=c where c is the x co-ordinate.

hartnn (hartnn):

do you know what a slope is ?

OpenStudy (christos):

I cant say I do :F

hartnn (hartnn):

slope means how bent the line is, you can calculate slope (m) given 2 points using \(\huge m=\frac{y_1-y_2}{x_1-x_2}\) its basically ratio of change in y co-ordinates to change in x co-ordinate. |dw:1362122632935:dw|
