Is linear regression calculated by creating a guess equation y=ax+b with the experimental constants inserted? @hartnn

|dw:1362158456501:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my measured slope is 0.5545 and the calculated predictions slope is 0.5600 I don't need to calculate the linear regression, I just want to understand what it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe linear regression is about: Sum of (the distance from data points to fit line)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now how does that relate to the the y=ax+b equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh it's the average distance of all of those points from the predicted line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do I have two lines/graphs then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi @hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

did u get my message that i am not good at regression ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I got the opposite message :P
