IS THIS CORRECT!!! 6. Solve the system of linear equations by using substitution. a. y= 5x + 6 y = -2x - 8 By substitution means you need to put y=.... from one equation into other equation. example, y= ax+b, y=cx+d BECOMES ax+b = cx+d and you can find 'x' from here. soooo... so that would be... then 5x + 6 = -2x - 8..basically, the (y =) part is removed, and both the number parts (5x + 6 and -2x - 8) are put together with an (=) symbol between them. 5x + 6 = -2x - 8 add 2x on both sides, subtract 6 from both sides... in short, try to find 'x' 5x+6 = -2x-8 5x+6 = -2x-8 5x+2x+6 = -2x+2x -8 7x+6 = -8 7x+6-6 = -8-6 7x =-14 got this ? Divide 7x by -14..you get 2..so now it goes x=-2
