HELP PLEASE IN GENETICS!!!!!! what is the difference between crossover frequency and recombination frequency?

book says that crossover fq = physical exchanges between chromosomes in meiosis for the region b:w genes while recombination fq = refers to the fq of recombination of genetic markers in a cross as determined by analyzing the phenotypes of the progeny
