I'm having a hard time factoring this trinomial. 16r^2-16r-12 I can't seem to find a factor of -12 that adds up to -16?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Maybe factor out the 4, first, see if that simplifies things?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

4(4r² - 4r - 3)

Good idea, thanks! I forgot I could lol.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I still don't know where to go with this, but you seem to :D

I have the answers, I was just trying to figure out how the problem was done. But there are three different answers: 4(2r-3)(2r+1) or (8r-12)(2r+1) or (8r+4)(2r-3) if that helps :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

They're basically the same, no? Just deciding where to distribute the 4, or to distribute it at all :D
