Factoring trinomials.... 25b^2+5b-42

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I'd say it will be (5b + factor 1)(5b + factor 2) find the factors that have a difference of 1.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

oops that should be factors or -42 that have a difference of 1

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

One way to find the factors is to use the quadratic formula to solve 25b^2+5b-42 = 0 for b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats how you factor the trinomials? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do you get when you use the quadratic formula
