What similarities and differences do you see between functions and linear equations

Functions map inputs to unique outputs. Linear equations can be functions and most times ARE functions. Use the vertical line rule to see if an expression is a function. If a vertical line intersects a plot at more than one point, the expression is NOT a function (so a parabola or similar shape).
