I wish people in this section would talk about things relevant to the cultivation of musical minds rather than what unimpressive, extremely basic, and unfortunately catchy song they just heard; or some cheesy cliche poem to seek the approval of others. I will never understand that. Here's a good question. In the key of Eb, how do you spell out the augmented V chord in first inversion 6?

That makes no sense, but it's ok, most things in this section don't, like the fondness for rap and hip-hop that is so prevalent in this section. Which are the lowest forms of music as far as talent goes. Anyways, since obviously no one will answer my question, I'll give it to you.

I would be very happy if people would post songs they wrote, but nobody does. I don't care what genre it is. Poetry is not music. Everybody thinks writing a poem and pretending that they will make it into a song some day is music. I would rather have them be mindless on face book than mindless on this site. Posting somebody else's music is not what this site is for.

I'm a big hater of the stupidity of modern POP, the auto-tuned, trivial, cliche and plain stupid music that's everyone's into.

I ADORE classical music, and like music like the Beatles as well.


But when I tell people that they're like: MUSIC IS AN OPINION, so I can really do nothing abuot it.

Tanner, I know what you mean. This section should be not only about what people like and what they do, but rather the theory, study, and appreciation of music. The notes, the chords, the compilations. And not just of hip hop and rap, but classical and jazz, rock and blues, traditional and cultural.

I actually see a lot of plagiarism in this section. I've looked up some of the poems, and it seems that some users have been taking credit for what is not theirs.. (though i can't ever point it out or everyone starts fighting and blaming me for blaming them and blah blah blah).

As for the posting of music they like, I've read that it's not allowed, though people keep doing it. And the poetry posting, I think, should go in the English or Writing section. Yeah yeah, poetry can be turned into music, but is it music with a melody? No. I do like poetry and that people post their own and accept criticism, but i think it's just not the right section.

As for the whole hip-hop, mainstream dealio, I think it comes with the generation. It's a trend and for most kids, if you don't like it you aren't "cool" or whatever. If they were exposed to truly fantastic music, they would have greater taste and have reasons behind their opinions.

@joannaxox3 no, poetry is not music no matter who's ears are receiving it. It may help in the process of writing a song but it's not music until then. Everyone posts lyrics on here without giving a second thought to the melody. Nobody even mentions it. If they did then I would be happy to converse about the creation of their song. And by the way, who said the world revolves around me. I'm just posting my opinions just like everybody else. Also, music is not an opinion. Music is: "The art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion." Do you see lyrics or poetry mentioned anywhere in that because I surely do not. So before you go around arguing what you can't defend just take a deep breath and realize that these are opinions and, though I wish they would be followed, I can't do much about it but hope that people will understand my side of things and start talking about real music.

I like lots of different styles. I can pretty much tolerate anything that's not on the radio. Besides classical I really like ska, punk rock, reggae, folk. Some of my favorite artists are Alkaline trio, AFI, Westbound Train, Streetlight Manifesto, The Slackers, Vic Ruggiero. The list goes on of course.
