solve the following system by using substitution 3x-2y=4 y=2x-6

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

With substitution, you solve one of the equations to get one variable in terms of the other. Then you rewrite the other equation, substituting the expression you got in the first step wherever you see the variable that you isolated. In this problem, the obvious approach would be to rewrite the first equation, substituting the right hand side of the second equation wherever you see the variable \(y\).

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You'll get a new equation with nothing but numbers and \(x\)'s, and you solve that for \(x\). Once you have a value for \(x\), you use the substitution equation to find the value of the other variable.
