1.Upton Sinclair was called a "muckraker." How did Sinclair "muckrake" for social reform?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is more English/ history than math... but okay. Basically Sinclair exposed the bad part of society via books and articles. He is best known for his book The Jungle about the meat packing indtsutry. By exposing how bad everything was, the common people demanded a change from corporate bosses. This typically resulted in government restrictions/sanctions/approval committees.

He brought the plight of the lower class to the attention of the public. His book, "The Jungle," is a great example of muckraking. The story follows an immigrant family's experience trying to obtain the stereotypical American dream, but they end up being miserable.
