[Please help] Give an example of an application of the x- and/or y- intercept. Ideally, this example would be from something you have encountered in your life.

For example, you might say that at birth, your daughter weighed 8 pounds. Her weight has increased since then. This means that on a graph of her weight, with age as the x-coordinate and weight as the y-coordinate, the y-intercept would be (0, 8). There would be no x-intercept since she will never weigh 0 pounds after birth.
