bartelome de las casas felt that how the spaniards including Columbus  were treating the native americans was harsh. They would have all sorts of mean tortures and kill for fun. He went with Columbus on his second voyage to the Americas. 
He took his feelings back to the crown in spain. It didnt do much, only make them read a spanish creed to the natives before they took their land, telling them that they would leave or they would kill them. but of course they did not speak spanish. hope that helps.
