Can anyone please help me understand electron configuration/quantum number stuff??? ... I do NOT understand this at all. So it ways what is the electron configuration of Kr? ..... I have the answer(s) ..but I just don't know what they're talking about or have a clue how to figure this out on my own. Please explain?
there are tons of videos on youtube, like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK6K68ADKDA if you have a more specific question i can try to answer it
Thanks @aaronq. I appreciate it a bunch. I'm just really confused & it seems really easy =/
Well that video didn't really help me. :( Hopefully my teacher can help me on Monday.
question is not clear where you are not understanding
Pretty much everything about how to figure anything out using quantum numbers?? I don't know... I understand what there and what they mean .. but then in the notes it says what is the electron configuration of Kr? The answer is \[1s ^{2}2s ^{2}2p ^{6}3s ^{2}3p ^{6}4s ^{2}3d ^{10}4p ^{6}\] ...? I don't know where the answer comes from
quantum numbers u are not getting see there are some rules and way to do this all stufff u should learn those basic things did you?
Yeah, but I don't understand it. :(
using quantum numbers u assign electrons address
where exactly is the electron from the nucleus
1S2 in this case 1 is prinicpal quantum number (shell) S is angular quantum number(subshell) super script 2 indicates no of electrons in that subshell
1(also called K) shell has s subshell 2 (also called L)shell has s and p subshell 3 (also called M)shell has s , p and d sybshell 4 (also called N )shell has s, p ,d ad f subshell
http://chemed.chem.purdue.edu/genchem/topicreview/bp/ch6/quantum.html this may help you
s subshell will have only 2 electrons p -6electrons d-10 electrons f-14 electrons
i thin u r not getting me
based on the atomic no of Kr u have two write it
I'll check out the site... It seems like this should be really easy and I wish I wasn't so confused!!!
yaaa its very easy if u understand it once
Hopefully it will click before my test this next Thursday!!! I've been trying to figure it out all day!!
