What is the perimeter of triangle ABC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The triangles PQR and ABC are similar. The scale factor can be found by dividing the length of BC by the length of QR:\[scale\ factor=\frac{BC}{QR}=\frac{22.5}{9}=you\ can\ calculate\] When you have found the scale factor it becomes possible to work out the length of the unknown side AC. The the lengths of the 3 sides of triangle ABC can be added to find the perimeter.

Then the*

88.75 inches 70 inches 15 inches 76.67 inches Theses are the answer choices and the sum is not one of them

OpenStudy (kropot72):

@Samantha.s Have you calculated the scale factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the thing i have no idea how to do it :(

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The scale factor is found by dividing 22.5 by 9: \[scale \ factor=\frac{22.5}{9}=?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.5

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Correct. Now if you multiply the legth of side PR by the scale factor you will have found the length of AC:\[length\ of\ AC=6\times 2.5\] The the perimeter of triangle ABC is found by adding the lengths of the three sides: \[32.5+22.5+(6\times 2.5)=you\ can\ calculate\]

OpenStudy (kropot72):

70in thank you

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Correct. Good work. You're welcome :)
