Create your own rational function and graph that function using technology.

@experimentX

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you just give me a random rational function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can graph it on my own

OpenStudy (experimentx):

\[ f(x) = \frac{3x+2}{2x+1}\]

OpenStudy (experimentx):

the easiest \[ f(x) = \frac{1}{x}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you and one more please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Create your own radical function

OpenStudy (experimentx):

\[ f(x) = \sqrt{x} \\ f(x) = \sqrt{2x+3}\] and so on ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It said to use a technological device, so would i typ in sq root 2x + 3?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yep ... you can

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you; you're the best.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

you can use cube root too ... or 1/4 ... any one you like.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

these are very easy ... you can google them and know yourslef http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rational_function http://www.purplemath.com/modules/graphrad.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=f%28x%29+%3D+3x+%2B+2+%2F+2x+%2B+1 This doesn't look right :(

OpenStudy (experimentx):

of course it isn't right. wolfram interprets it as \[ f(x) = 3x + \frac 1 2 x + 1\] what could possibly had gone wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not quite sure that's why I asked

OpenStudy (experimentx):

your should be very careful when entering stuff into computers or calulators http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=f%28x%29+%3D+%283x+%2B+2%29+%2F+%282x+%2B+1%29 you should use bracket to group together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry, that was my error

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which graph would I use? http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=f%28x%29+%3D+square+root+2x+%2B+3

OpenStudy (experimentx):

you are having the same problem here ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to put the whole sqr root bar over the 2x+3

OpenStudy (experimentx):

i told you above .. use brackets ( ... ) to group things together

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f (x) = (2x + 3) ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please just teach me. I want to learn. I'm sorry I don't understand

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yes ... just put square root in front of it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much. it means a lot.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

you are welcome!!
