What are the requirements of this assignment? For this assignment, break the project down into manageable units. 1. First, decide which scene you want to adapt. Do a scene study. Be sure you understand the original point of Shakespeare's scene. To do that, you might want to use an online study guide that offers modern day language rephrasing of Romeo and Juliet. See how the original play sounds in modern day language. 2. Next, think about how you want to adapt the scene. Setting - When and where do you want the new scene to take place? Characters - Will you rename them? Will you change the gender of any of the characters? Are you going to keep them as people or use other types of characters, for example robots or animals? Dialogue - Will you use a special dialect or slang for you characters? Action - The actions should be consistent with your characters Tone and Mood - Will you keep the original tone of the scene or change it? You can make a sad scene funny, or a funny scene sad. It is up to you.
