In the sci-fi novels and films you know, what type of roles do women play? Are they in-depth, complex characters or are they mainly simpering, helpless victims or sexual stereotypes inserted into the fiction in order to tempt the men?

lol, what an odd question. I'm sure that in sci-fi novels/books, women are more of like 'space fillers'. There are one or two 'adult' scenes in these books - which satisfies the hopeless romantic in the reader, right? I suppose they can also be used for plot purposes. Helpless victims, sure why not. I don't know about complex in-depth characters though, unless they are a main character or are a part of the plot.
