nautilus equipment?! lol when was this written, 1981?

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

AFTER markup, the price is 399.95. What was the price BEFORE it was marked up 30% ? P + 0.30P = 399.95 or 1.30P = 399.95 Hope this helps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to increase a number y 30%, multiply it by \(1.3\) you don't know what the cost is, but if you multiply it by \(1.3\) you get 399.99 so set \[1.3x=399.99\] and solve for \(x\) by diving \(399.99\) by \(1.3\)
