x+3x^1/2 -4=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=3x ^{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }}-4=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x+3\sqrt{x}-4=0\] \[(\sqrt{x}+4)(\sqrt{x}-1)=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{2}+3x ^{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }}-4=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so \(\sqrt{x}=1\implies x=1\) and \(\sqrt{x}=-4\) has no solution

hi satellite73 help me please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i couldnt just multiply everything by 2 and get \[x ^{2}=3x-16=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i meant \[x ^{2}+3x-16=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let us x^1/2=y squr.. both side x= y^2 put them in eq.. y^2+3y-4=y^2+4y-y-4=(y-1)(y-4) y=1,-4 put y=x^1/2=1,-4 x=+1,-1,and x=+2-2
