Intuitive question; [referring to hydrogen atom] when a photon knocks an electron to another energy state, what determines how fast that electron will return, or release the energy gained by being excited by the photon?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

good question i think ,it may be determined by the energy difference between the energy levels, energy of photon incidented , local environment(electronic environment) of atom/molecule but the time it take to do that is too small to be measured with accuracy

Thanks for your input, man!

ur welcome
