Use the quadratic formula. Round your answers to three decimal places. 0=x2−73x+13

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Do you know the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes:) i tried to solve it but its telling me im wrong:(

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

well, why don't you show me what you did, and maybe we can figure out why it thinks your answer is incorrect...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. let me me write it out x2-73x+13=0 a=1 b=73 c=13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Close, but not quite. Hint: the negative sign is the work of the devil, I say :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol.ok so -x2+73x-13 a=-1 b=73 c=-13

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I suppose you could do that, but why not just keep the equation as you had it, and use the proper value for b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so a=1 b=-73 c=13")

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

That's what I would do...
