I think you should review the rules for basic conjugations

regular verbs (present tense)
ending in "ir" or "er":
example: "comer"
yo como (er-o)
tú comes (er-es)
el/ella come (er-e)
ellos/ellas/ustedes comen (er-en)
nosotros comemos (er-emos)

those are just for regular verbs, there are irregular ones that you have to learn separately.
ex: yo (poner) = yo pongo.
You also need to know the three possible stem changes that can occur within some words when conjugated in present tense (o-ue, e-ei, e-i).
ex: él (dormir) = él duerme
tú (sentir) = tú sientas
yo (pedir) = yo pido

btw stem-changing does not occur in conjugations for "nosotros"
ex: "nosotros dormemos" (notice no o-ue change there)
stem changes also do no occur in other tenses besides the present.
