Which of the following best describes the events that take place when an enzyme catalyzes a chemical reaction? The enzyme gives the products of the reaction different chemical and physical properties. The enzyme produces copies of itself, increasing the rate of the chemical reaction. The enzyme changes in structure as different parts of it are used up in the reaction. The enzyme lowers the activation energy of the reaction, allowing it to proceed more quickly.
