a certain mountain has an elevation of 19793 feet. in 1910 the glacier on this peak covered 8 acres. by 2004 this glacier had melted to only 1 acre. (a) assume that this glacier melted at a constant rate each year. find this yearly rate. (b) use your answer from part (a) to write a linear equation that gives the acreage A of this glacier t years past 1910.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It melted 8-1 acres in 2004-1910 years. What is the rate of melting in acres per year?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe thats what it's asking... I didnt understand it, that's why i came on here looking for help. :/

OpenStudy (mertsj):

How many acres melted?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am going to take a screen shot of it, so you can see what I am talking about. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there you go. Thank you

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So just to make sure we are on the same page...I am pretty sure that I understand the question. I am asking you questions to try to lead you to the answer since Open Study has a rule that the helpers do not just post the answers.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So if you could just answer my question, "how many acres melted", then we can proceed to the next question and get that much closer to an answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahha! See I am new here so I didnt know. LOL forgive me please. 1 acre melted.
