Express the complex number in trigonometric form. 5 - 5i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use pythagorean theorem to get r r^2=a^2+b^2 And use inv tan (5/5) to get the angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean "trigonometric form"? I guess I should have started with that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought the answer was; 5sqrt2(cos5pi/4+isin5pi/4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would tht be right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would think it's: 5sqrt2(cos(-pi/4)+isin(-pi/4)) A negative angle and I don't know where you got the 5 multiplying the angle. But then I haven't done these for a long while.
