hw do u find the square root of a number without using a calculator...please help

most of the time u are just using what u  have memorized... like the obvious ones such as sq.rt.9 is 3 right? 

but if its a big number, u need to break it into parts... divide it by a number that you know has a sq.rt that you know... then keep doing that till u cannot find a sq.rt. anymore... and you will be left with something that looks like this... only if it is a complex and bigger number though!! if its a simple number then u will get something very simple... |dw:1362519760524:dw|
