A person has to be at least 35 years of age to become president. The number of electoral votes each state gets is the sum of their Congressman. Each state gets 2 Senators, the number of representatives is determined by population of the state, with each state having at least 1. Requirements for president : Only native born U.S. citizens or those born abroad, but only to parents who were both citizens of the U.S. can become president. One must be at least 35 years of age, One must live in the U.S. for at least 14 years. Requirements for Vice President : The requirements for V.P. are the same as that for the president.
